Once you have decided that Ear Candling is for you, the next question you face is how often should you have the treatment to get results?
As Ear Candling is a safe and non-invasive procedure, many people take this to mean that they can use Ear Candles as regular and often as they like.
However, over-use of Ear Candles is not recommended. Firstly, this is because some of the effects of Ear Candle Treatment are still occurring up to 48 hours after treatment, so you may not notice the full effects until a day or two after the session. Secondly, as the ear is such a delicate organ, it is wise to give it time to heal and recover on its own in between treatments.
In this post, I hope to help you decide what treatment schedules might be right for you, based on a number of factors. If, after reading this post, you are still unsure how frequently you should be using the Ear Candles, feel free to get in touch via the comment section or our EaseWax facebook page https://www.facebook.com/EaseWax/ and I will do my best to advise on your particular situation.
When working out how often to use Ear Candle Treatment, there are several factors that should be considered.
Ear Candling is safe and effective for most people, including young children and the elderly. However, older people often find that they require more treatments to feel the full effect of the therapy. Whereas younger children may need just one or two treatments to feel the benefits.
Likewise, some conditions are easier to treat, and therefore require fewer sessions. On the other hand, more serious or chronic conditions may need more regular treatments to tackle the full range of symptoms.
Before you begin your Ear Candle treatment it is a good idea to have a clear aim and to understand what effects you are looking for. This will help you to create a treatment schedule and make sure that you get the most out of the therapy.
If you are turning to Ear Candle Treatment to help ease that bunged-up, congesting feeling during a bad cold or the flu there are some clear recommendations.
Use Hopi Ear Candles once or twice for the first 2 days.
If symptoms persist beyond 2 days you can use the treatment 3 or 4 times again (in each ear) for up to 10 days.
As Ear Candle Therapy is such a relaxing procedure, many people find it helping to have a session in the evening. This can help to relax the body and ease congestion, helping you to sleep soundly (and even stop snoring!).
Ear Wax is a natural lubricant formed within the ear canal that help to protect the inner ear from pathogens and bacteria.
Despite being vital for our overall ear health, some people have a tendency to overproduce ear wax. This can lead to an uncomfortable congested feeling in the ears and sometimes partial hearing loss.
Ear Candling is an effective treatment for compacted ear wax. It is considered safer than alternative treatments, such as syringing, which puts pressure on the ear drum and can lead to water trapped in the ear canal, risking bacterial infection.
Ear Candles remove excess ear wax by applying heat to soften it and draw it away from the ear. The chimney effect of the hollow candle then allows the wax to be drawn up towards the entrance of the ear, so that it can be removed by a cotton wool ball or finger tip.
After an initial Ear Candling session, wax can continue to move to the entrance of the ear for 24-48 hours. If after this time you find you are still suffering from compacted wax, you can try the procedure again.
In general, if you suffer from regular over-production of ear wax the best option is to use Ear Candles once a month to help prevent any problems from occurring.
If you are suffering from a long-term condition, such as hearing loss or tinnitus, you may want to use Hopi Ear Candles regularly over a number of weeks to help solve the problem.
Practitioners recommend Ear Candling as follows:
3x treatments in week 1
2x treatments in week 2
1x treatments in week 3
A similar schedule can be followed for treating chronic conditions, including pain.
If headaches or earaches persist following treatment and you suspect you are developing an infection or suffering from inflammation you should stop using Ear Candles immediately. You should speak to your doctor and seek alternative treatments to clear any infection before returning to Ear Candle Therapy to assist in the healing process.
If you have had recent Ear Surgery you should not use Ear Candles for at least 3 months. This will make sure that the delicate inner ear is fully healed, and ensure that no post-op infections have developed.
If you have suffered a perforated or ruptured Ear Drum you should not use Ear Candles at all until the you doctor gives you the all-clear and confirms the membrane has completely healed.
The time frames for Hopi Ear Candle Treatment will be different for everyone, depending on age, condition and length of time with the condition.
A Hopi treatment once per month can help to prevent problems, and just one or two sessions might be sufficient to solve issues of compacted ear wax. For more chronic and long-term conditions a regular treatment schedule of once or twice per week may be required. For treatment of cold and flu symptoms, using Hopi Ear Candles twice in the first day should help ease congestion, with a further 3-4 treatments across the next 10 days helping the healing process.
